Escaped prisoner still on the run
Escaped prisoner still on the run
A man who
escaped from Waikeria Prison last Friday afternoon is still
on the run.
Nicholas Brian Wyatt, 18, was noticed missing from a work party at the prison on Friday afternoon. He was serving a four-year prison term for aggravated robbery, kidnapping, car theft and burglary. Police say Wyatt’s crimes involved violence and he is considered dangerous and should not be approached by the public.
Wyatt allegedly stole a prison truck from Waikeria on Friday which was involved in a crash on the Raglan Deviation. A person fitting his description was seen running from the scene by a member of the public who stopped and offered the driver assistance after it had crashed.
Wyatt is from Hamilton and has relatives in Raglan. He was seen there on Saturday, but there have been no further sightings of him since. He was last seen wearing grey track pants and a green bush shirt with a hood.
Wyatt is caucasian, 1.72m tall, has short blonde hair, blue eyes and a freckled complexion. He is of medium build. Anyone who has seen him is urged to contact police immediately.
