Targeted Winter Aerial Operation Expected To Go Ahead Tomorrow – Thursday 3 July

The current targeted winter aerial operation is expected to go ahead tomorrow, Thursday 3 July, weather permitting. Originally planned for today (Wednesday) the operation was delayed due to unsettled weather conditions.

Aerial operations during the winter months, through to September, will take place across five small areas with a combined total area of less than 900 hectares. The winter target areas of Motions/Meola Creek, Waikumete Cemetery, Ranui, Riverpark and Hobsonville will be aerially treated on a 21 to 28 day cycle.

Given favourable conditions and completion of the operation in a single day, it is expected that, Waikumete Cemetery and Motions/Meola Creek will be treated from 7am, followed after 9am, by Hobsonville, Ranui and Riverpark with spraying completed by 12 noon. There will be no spraying between 8am and 9am as children travel to school.

For updates and general information about the programme the public can call the painted apple moth freephone 0800 96 96 96. The public can also listen to radio updates, broadcast around operation dates, on More FM (91.8FM) and Newstalk ZB (1080AM). General information about the programme and a map of the targeted winter areas is also available on the website, visit www.maf.govt.nz/paintedapplemoth
