The NEW team to lead a NEW Auckland Regional Council

CANDIDATES FOR A.R.C.ELECTIONS

The 'Rates Rebellion - FRESH START' team to fight the October ARC elections has now been finalised with candidates in five of the region's six constituencies.

Spokesman David Thornton said today "This is a strong team with a blend of experience and fresh, energetic new talent. All members of the team have been involved is some aspect of community activity. "Rates, traffic and transport are the region's major issues and this team has the commitment to find solutions - and a shared vision of an Auckland Regional Council which actually works in the interests of its residents and ratepayers".

BORIS SOKRATOV, a Mt Eden resident, born and raised in Auckland, is the final addition to the 'Rates Rebellion - FRESH START' team contesting the ARC election. Boris, is a marketing expert who has represented New Zealand in Surf Live-Saving, and played Rugby for University. His ancestory has earned him the nickname 'the Bulgarian Maori'. Boris, together with Scott Kelly will, be contesting Auckland City ARC seats.

SCOTT KELLY, our second Auckland City candidate is a qualified mechanical engineer and was president of the Auckland University Students Association in 2003 where he gained considerable experience in governance roles in students affairs.

The other members of the team, already announced, are;-

DAVID THORNTON, spokesman for RatesRebellion, former member of North Shore City Council, currently member Glenfield Community Board, partner in family Project Management company - standing for a North Shore City seat on ARC.

GRANT TAYLOR, south Auckland co-ordinator for RatesRebellion, and Chairman, Cockle Bay Ratepayers Association. - standing for a Manukau City seat on ARC

CARL HARDING, a former local and ARC councillor, a Justice of the Peace, serves on many voluntary and industry bodies - standing for a Waitakere City seat on ARC.

RON MOTTRAM Rodney co-ordinator for Rates Rebellion, chairman of Rodney District Combined Community & Ratepayers Association - standing for the Rodney seat on ARC
