BP Forced to Raise Prices

BP Forced to Raise Prices

Rising international prices have forced BP to increase the price of petrol by three cents and diesel by two cents a litre today.

BP Managing Director Peter Griffiths said “Unfortunately international product prices have continued to rise and the strengthened dollar has not been enough to offset the rise and prevent an increase at the pump.”

“International oil and product prices have continued to climb on the back of low US stocks. Oil production has also been disrupted because of Hurricane Claudette, which has forced the closure of platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.”

“We promise to deliver the best prices we can to our customers. In this instance we have been forced to raise the price at the pump.” he said.

Petrol prices at most BP owned service stations will increase to $1.089 per litre for Unleaded 91, $1.139 for Premium Unleaded and 61.9 cents for diesel. The wholesale price charged to independent dealers will also increase at midnight tonight.

Regions that have been enjoying discount pricing will see a larger increase at the pump.
