FFNZ Activates Adverse Events Trust
People and organisations wanting to give financial help to farming victims of floods in the lower North Island can make a donation to a special trust run by Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc).
The Federation's Adverse Events Trust is activated occasionally in the event of severe conditions which impact on many farmers. It was last used during drought in the late 1990s.
The bank account details for the Adverse Events Trust are as follows: Account Name – Adverse Events Trust Bank – National Bank of NZ Account Number – 060 0594 0028181 00 People can make a donation to the trust at any National Bank branch.
Trustees are empowered to provide funds within New Zealand for the charitable purpose of providing relief and assistance to farmers and farming families who have been subjected to suffering and loss as a consequence of adverse climatic events. The trustees include Federated Farmers President Tom Lambie and Chief Executive Tony St. Clair.
As earlier advised, the federation has set up a freephone line (0800 FFLOOD or 0800 335 663) for farmers seeking help, and an email address (flooding@fedfarm.org.nz) for farmers and others offering assistance.
"Farmers have greatly
appreciated the help that has already been offered, such as
feed, accommodation, and grazing land. But the trust is an
opportunity for others to help in a different way," said Mr
Lambie.
