Irish Postal Workers Strike Causes Mail Delays To Ireland
New Zealand Post advises customers not to send mail to Ireland as delivery has been delayed indefinitely due to a strike by postal workers at the Dublin Mails Centre.
Paul Dalton, General Manager International said New Zealand Post will suspend International Airmail (including Registered) to Ireland from today following advice by An Post (Ireland Post).
New Zealand Post's other services such as courier and economy mail to Ireland are not affected by the current strike.
Mr Dalton said around 4000 mail and packet items are sent each week from New Zealand to Ireland.
In the meantime International Air and Registered mail that is posted to Ireland will be held by New Zealand Post and sent to Ireland when normal delivery of mail resumes. New Zealand Post will not be able to offer compensation for loss or delay as a result of these circumstances.
"We understand that customers will be concerned that mail to Ireland has been delayed and we will advise as soon as the strike action has been resolved and normal delivery of mail resumes," Mr Dalton said.
