the time as a gigantic 33,000 square foot shoppers’
paradise. That year, the Warehouse was employing 2000 people
and stocking over 50, 000 different products.
The mid 1990s saw The Warehouse expand in size and in
products, when stores began selling books, apparel and
music.
The Warehouse share float was the most
eagerly anticipated of 1994, and in 1995 The Warehouse was
added to the New Zealand SE40 index.
The North
Island Distribution Centre opened in 1996.
By
1997, The Warehouse was employing 4700 people, and stocking
over 70,000 products.

index, and sales exceeded $1billion.

Warehouse Australia was acquired in 2000, and opened with
118 stores
