Significant Fairfax Investment Into Improved Business Coverage
Fairfax New Zealand Ltd is building upon the success of BusinessDay to provide more extensive and in depth business news coverage to readers of the Dominion Post, The Christchurch Press and now also the Waikato Times.
Backed by extra resources and a team of 15 BusinessDay reporters in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, coverage will be extended to include a specialist focus page on each day of the week as well as an exclusive daily feed of key Australian news from the Australian Financial Review.
Craig Howie, BusinessDay editor, said that these changes will ensure business decision makers get the most current and insightful news and information. “Combining resources removes the inevitable duplication in running stand alone business news teams,” said Mr Howie. “At the same time, we understand that flexibility remains essential and so we will continue to preserve the ability of the individual newspapers to cover the business issues shaping their own regions.”
New special interest pages that run every day within the BusinessDay mix will add appeal to a wide range of readers and advertisers. The stable of new pages include ‘Enterprise’ on a Monday which looks at important issues through the eyes of small and medium-sized enterprises; Tuesday’s ‘Your Money’ focuses on personal finance; Wednesday’s ‘Australia Watch’ provides key Australian business news and information; Thursday’s ‘Profile’ looks at a New Zealand business figure making headlines in New Zealand and Friday’s ‘Executive’ canvases stories about issues affecting the professional employment market.
BusinessDay on the weekend will offer a more in depth read with its own section front that will vary between the papers, each meeting the needs of their own markets.
BusinessDay launched almost two years ago, when the business news teams of the Dominion Post and The Press were brought together under the BusinessDay brand.
