$9 Million Lotto Powerball Jackpot - Up For Grabs In Christmas Day Draw

Lotto players have to get their tickets by Friday night to enter Saturday's Christmas Day draw where $9 million will be up for grabs with Lotto Powerball, as well as $1 million with Lotto, and $300,000 with Lotto Strike, Lotteries Commission Deputy Chief Executive Warren Salisbury said today.

On top of all that, players have until tonight night* to buy Triple Dips tickets for entry into Lotto's biggest Christmas ever. More than $2.5 million worth of extra prizes are up for grabs in Lotto's Mega Christmas promotion.

The amazing array of prizes includes: 1 x Kiwi Bach (worth $500,000) 2 x Ford Escapes towing Haines Hunter boats 3 x Mercedes-Benz 4 x Tours of Europe 5 x Audi A4 Cabriolets 6 x Caribbean Cruises 7 x Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolets 8 x wads of $50,000 cash 9 x SONY entertainment systems 10 x $20,000 shopping sprees

"This is an amazing line-up of prizes to top off what we hope will be a wonderful Christmas Day for all our players," said Mr Salisbury.

"This is the biggest Lotto Powerball jackpot we've had for a long time, and with this kind of money any winner will definitely have a fantastic Christmas and a very, very happy New Year.

Two lucky Lotto tickets bought at Village Lotto & Dairy, Raumati Beach, and Dennis' Bookshop, Westport, won First Division Wednesday night, with each of them taking home $500,000.

Lotto Winning Wheel's winner, Paddy Brogan from Morrinsville, won $50,000. This week's Winning Wheel serial number was: 750-65182988-20xx from Invercargill.

"The changes we've made to Lotto have given the game much more variety which makes it more exciting for our players. We just never know from week to week what combination of prizes will be won."
