Pacific Blue Turns 1 And You Get The Present

Pacific Blue celebrates 12 months since its first flight took off from Christchurch to Brisbane on 29 January 2004.

In true Pacific Blue style, the airline is selling 2000** seats for just $1* giving both New Zealanders and Australians the chance to buy tickets at the lowest price ever seen on the Tasman.

The $1* fares are available on the internet and will be on sale from 9am Saturday 29th January until sold out. The airline expects them to be snapped up in a matter of hours.

Pacific Blue Chief Executive, Tony Marks, said, “Pacific Blue has always been on a mission to provide the best service possible at the lowest fare. While we are not looking to regularly put fares on sale for $1*, the first birthday sale is our little way of saying thank you to all the travellers who have made it clear they value an airline that is committed to keeping the air fair and fun.”

Since introducing the ‘new era’ of flying to Trans Tasman travellers and further bridging the gap between New Zealand and Australia with sustainable low air fares, Pacific Blue has also launched services to more international destinations taking in Vanuatu^, Fiji^ and soon the Cook Islands^.

Following on from a busy first year, the low fare airline has an exciting future ahead in terms of expansion plans throughout the South Pacific and Trans Tasman regions. “Over the past 12 months, Pacific Blue has established itself as a serious Trans Tasman player and we have never been coy about giving traditional carriers a run for their money. We’ll definitely be spreading our wings even further throughout 2005 so that more and more travellers can take advantage of real competition and affordable fares,” Tony Marks added. Since 29 January 2004 until end of January 2005, Pacific Blue has flown an average of 2558 flights, the equivalent of flying 175 times around the world. ** 1000 seats ex-New Zealand and 1000 seats ex-Australia * Pacific Blue $1 birthday fares are strictly limited and only available on direct Trans Tasman routes. Fares are one way on the net, or $10 more by phone.

A credit card surcharge of an additional $2 per person per one way flight is applicable. Taxes, fees and surcharges are correct as at 29 January 2005, and are subject to change.
