UDC Finance & Trade Me Enter Partnership
New Zealand’s largest online marketplace and New Zealand’s largest finance company today announced a joint venture that will see UDC Finance become Trade Me’s finance partner.
Under the agreement, UDC will take applications from Trade Me customers buying motor vehicles through www.trademe.co.nz.
Within six years, Trade Me has become one of the most visited websites in New Zealand and won the 2004 Deloitte/Unlimited Fast 50 Award for the fastest growing company.
It’s automotive subsidiary Trade Me Motors was launched 18 months ago, has over 30,000 listings and is estimated to sell around 200 cars a day. The latest Neilsen//Netrating figures show Trade Me Motors had over 360,000 unique visitors in January 2005, more than the other top five automotive sites combined.
From 1 March 2005 every Trade Me Motors vehicle listing will have a link to apply online for finance with UDC.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with an icon brand like UDC,” said Trade Me general manager, Sam Morgan. “It gives all of our 900,000 members the ability to access finance from a trusted and secure provider.”
UDC, with over 65 years’ experience in lending, competed with several banks and financial institutions for the Trade Me partnership.
UDC General
Manager Garry Fissenden said “Online marketplaces are
booming and will only get bigger. Since the very beginning,
UDC has been associated with innovation and success-driven
Kiwi enterprise. The Trade Me brand encapsulates both of
these and is a great fit for us.”
