The Bank
THE BANK is a thriller set in the world of
high finance, a modern day story of alchemy.
Jim Davis is a mathematical genius working in the far reaches of econometrics, searching for a formula to understand the futures market, to predict it and subsequently make unlimited profits.
Simon O’Reilly is the CEO of Centabank, one of Australia’s leading financial institutions. His imagination and greed are captivated by the potential in Jim’s research, and Simon lures him away from his studies at Melbourne University to work for Centabank.
With huge amounts of money and resources at Jim’s disposal, his formula evolves and the otherwise cynical Simon and the bank’s Board of Directors, fall under the spell of Jim’s system.
A thorn in Simon’s side is Centabank’s exposure to massive foreign currency loans through a raft of legal suits against the bank. Wayne and Diane’s business has been foreclosed on by Centabank, and with the assistance of a young legal aid lawyer, they begin a precedent legal action against the bank.
Jim’s desire to succeed in his quest has a price, and Simon’s confidence and faith in Jim must be proven. Only Michelle, at the front line of banking as a Centabank teller, suspects Jim’ true motivation and the mystery in his past.
