Two brothers Richard (23) and Tom Greenwood (21) have followed Tolkiens Trail in Birmingham, England to discover the true inspiration behind many of the Lord of The Rings and Hobbit locations. Delving into Tolkiens childhood mind they have discovered the true locations which inspired the likes of ‘The Shire’, ‘The Two Towers’ and ‘Mystical Forest of Fangorm. All the photographs have been compiled into a calendar along with quotes from Tolkien and interesting facts relating to each location. With the Lord of the Rings Epic Movie Trilogy nearing completion with the release of Return of the King next month most people are familiar with the dramatic landscapes of Middle-Earth. However JRR Tolkien never saw the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand where the movies were shot and instead drew much inspiration from his childhood memories in England.

Born in South Africa in 1892 Tolkien returned with his mother Mabel to her native Birmingham, England in 1895 where they lived at 264 Wake Green Road, Sarehole. Sarehole and the surrounding area with its meadows, ponds and mills provided much of the inspiration for the Shire. Describing his time in the area Tolkien said "I loved it with an intensity that was a kind of nostalgia reversed".
