Air NZ's Frodo Makes Starring Appearance
Air New Zealand's 747 in Lord of the Rings livery flies at 1,000ft (300m) over central Wellington during the Lord of the Rings Parade.
Prior to its arrival in Wellington, the 747 completed a historic sequence of low level flights over Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Gisborne and Napier, enabling more than two million people, one in two New Zealanders, to share in the excitement of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King world premiere.
It was the first time that a Boeing 747-400 had undertaken a low-level flypast in the four regional centres.
The Airline to Middle-earth has
four aircraft in Lord of the Rings imagery - two Boeing
747s, a Boeing 767 and an Airbus A320 - which will fly the
equivalent of 400 times around the globe during their time
in promotional livery.
