CBS Slopestyle

CBS Slopestyle

An international field of over 40 boarders and skiers provided a high level of riding at the inaugural CBS Slopestyle competition at Cardrona Alpine Resort today. The great conditions and weather allowed the competitors to bring out their best riding.

Robert Hollis.

Undaunted by the massive features that make up Cardrona’s Heavy Metal Terrain Trail, competitors put on a stunning display of riding that resulted in Robett Hollis of Christchurch taking first place in the men’s snowboarding and fourteen-year-old Jossi Wells from Wanaka taking first in the men’s skiing.

“Robett is a very strong rail and big air rider,” said head judge Jon Malcolm-Smith. “He just goes off in the park throwing down very smooth rail slides and getting massive air over the table tops. Jossi was so far ahead. He continues to astound both judges and spectators with his solid, skilled riding. He pulled off some pretty impressive tricks with style and landed everything cleanly.”

Kendall Brown.

In the women’s event, Canadian rider Molly Milligan took out the snowboard title while Wanaka local Sarah Gillespie won the skiing.

“Girls riding is going from strength to strength in both skiing and snowboarding,” continued JMS. “It was good to see a decent number of entries and both Molly and Sarah should be pleased with their results.”
