Run With Bevan At The Adidas Auckland Marathon

Run With Bevan At The Adidas Auckland Marathon

Olympic Silver Medallist and 2004 World Triathlon Champion Bevan Docherty will lead a team of runners at the 10km section of this year’s adidas Auckland Marathon, Sunday 31 October 2004 .

Docherty is keen to point out that running the 10kms with him won’t be a record-breaking exercise, he’s just keen to encourage as many people as possible to get out and enjoy the run.

“Running the 10kms is the perfect distance for those who want to experience the atmosphere of the Marathon, but don’t feel they’re up to the half or full distance. The more people I can encourage to get out there and enjoy running the better.

“Anyone can run, but there are a few things you need to make sure you do if you’re intending to take on a distance such as 10kms or more. It’s important to build up to the distance gradually so that when you get to the actual event you have a level of fitness that means you’ll enjoy the run – rather than it being a painful exercise.”

Docherty recommends all runners invest in taking the time to prepare properly for any distance running.

“The better prepared you are – and this includes getting the basics right, like having the right footwear – means you lower the risk of injury.”

All runners registered for the 10km in the adidas Auckland Marathon are invited to run with Bevan by emailing contact details to bevan@adidas.co.nz .
