HER MAJESTY star Sally Andrews wins Best Actress award at San Diego Film Festival!
Local actress Sally Andrews has won another international award for her debut performance in this heart warming Kiwi film. Phoning from the US, director Mark Gordon reminds us what great timing this latest accolade is with HER MAJESTY on the brink of its Canadian release, and home territory New Zealand to follow in January ‘05.
The San Diego Film Festival Award is one more added to a growing list for HER MAJESTY which has already picked up many international Audience Awards, a Best Feature, as well as awards for Sound, Production Design, Costume and Make-up.
HER MAJESTY is the latest in a line of New Zealand films to win awards globally. Arkles Entertainment releases this heart warming tale in cinemas nationally on January 20th.
Set in quaint and quirky provincial New Zealand on the cusp of the Queen’s 1953 tour, it tells the story of 13yr old Elizabeth Wakefield, a girl consumed with a desire to meet her namesake Queen Elizabeth II. Unlike John Campbell’s belated QUEEN’S TOUR, she might just get the chance!
HER MAJESTY stars Vicky Haughton (WHALE RIDER), Liddy Holloway (FRACTURE), Rachel Wallis as the Queen, newcomer Sally Andrews as Elizabeth, and Craig Elliot as her pesky older brother.
Director Mark Gordon is “very excited to be releasing HER MAJESTY into the local market, after a warm reception in the US.” HER MAJESTY is a film for grand-parents and parents to take their children to for a glimpse back at how we were, what we are and the feel of 1950’s New Zealand.
“a nostalgic period piece, a chocolate box come to life… shot with literal brilliance” Peter Calder, NZ Herald
