Marsden Students Design ISNZ Website
24 October 2001
The new website designed by four students from Samuel Marsden Collegiate School for Independent Schools of New Zealand (ISNZ) was launched at a function at St Mark's Church School today.
Suzy Chapman, Amelia Cicone, Louise Nyberg and Brenna Pringle were asked in August to design the 'look and feel' of a new site which reflected the change of name to Independent Schools of New Zealand from the Independent Schools Council and to incorporate the three characteristics of ISNZ member schools - innovation, choice and environment.
"The new site is brilliant," said Joy Quigley, Executive Director of ISNZ. "It downloads quickly, and it is very easy to read and to navigate from topic to topic."
"We wanted a fresh clean look to the site where visitors could quickly find the information they require, and that we could build on and adapt as required."
"These four students have exceeded expectations and we are thrilled with the result."
Two of the students are design students and the other two computer students. They worked to a brief from ISNZ with technical assistance from The Web Limited and their teacher, Neil Harray.
ISNZ represents 42 of the 100 independent schools in New Zealand. ISNZ member schools are linked to the new website. They educate over 80% of the children in the compulsory sector who are in the independent sector and whose parents believe that an independent school best meets their children's educational needs. A report due to be released on Monday from PricewaterhouseCoopers will show the inequity of funding for independent schools.
