But He Hasn’t Been Elected Yet

Sludge wonders if there are any black Republican electors from Florida, or anywhere else for that matter. According to the United States Constitution electors are free to vote by their conscience. With Florida’s 25 electoral votes, Dubya has a majority of four, meaning only two electors out of 271 need have a crisis of conscience and vote Gore between now and Dec 18 for Dubya to lose that majority.

A lot is taken for granted in this electoral race. Gore has conceded, and Dubya has claimed victory, but a new president has not yet been elected.
