Scoop Update
#8
***************
Dear My Scoop Community member,
Victory Spurs Scoop To Soldier On…
To cut to the chase. Scoop has decided, on serious reflection over the past month, that it is both needed (and wanted) in the NZ media world.
Afterall, someone has to provide our foreign owned media giants with some thoughtful competition in the ideas race.
And with print publications folding like flies, as what looks ominously like a recession starts to bite, it looks like it is down to Scoop.
We have also concluded that, with a bit of reorganisation and hard yakka (and your continued supported), it is probably feasible to keep the site running, just.
That said we still urgently need your support as we are now literally operating on the smell of an oily rag.
Therefore we encourage all readers who use our service in a professional capacity to sign up for a trial of the My Scoop Professional service and/or to become sustaining subscribers.
Does it make sense not to pay for something that is extremely useful – and is saving you and your clients money and time – just because you don’t have to?

EXISTING SUBSCRIBERS PLEASE NOTE: If you wish to convert your existing My Scoop Free account into a professional account for a trial you will need to send an email to sales@scoop.co.nz and we will change the settings on your account.
Read below for a brief outline of what Scoop has decided to do.
In coming days more details of the new Scoop strategy will emerge in your inbox. So watch this space.
Scoop’s Plan In
Bullet Points – Scoop Will:
- Continue to provide live
coverage of Parliament;
- Continue to provide gripping
commentary and analysis of NZ current and cultural
events;
- Continue to provide a free to the public
database, and open and courageous forum for the discussion
of political ideas;
- Increasingly encourage content
providers to publish their own material;
- Encourage our
large professional news users (*watch out you know who you
are*) to become subscribers, either sustaining or
professional;
Meanwhile the Scoop team thanks all those whose support we have received over the last few weeks (especially those who have provided financial sustenance).
A special thanks is also due to all those who voted for us in the NZ Internet Awards. IT WORKED!!! WE WON!!!
And as the All Blacks well know, there is something special about winning. To win on the basis of a public vote is especially satisfying.
So…
Thankyou. Thankyou. Thankyou.
