UQ Wire: Kissinger Commission? Huh?

Dear Fellow Concerned Citizens, and Friends of UQ and members of the press/media:

'Follow all facts, wherever they lead'; these were Bush's words today (November 27, 2002) at a signing ceremony at the White House establishing the "National Commission on the Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States." [H.R.4628; SEC. 601-610]

Kissinger echoed him a hour or so later...saying the commission would "go where the facts will lead us".

I agree, but Marc's comments are a slow pitch condemnation...for something harder we must look to Christopher Hitchens, contributing editor of Vanity Fair and author of The Trial of Henry Kissinger. One can't help but wonder where the facts would lead a jury of his peers (or a commission) were he to be subject to a prosecution as a war criminal, having committed crimes against humanity and genocide. Based on new material obtained through Freedom of Information Act and the publicly available historical record, Hitchens builds a damning case against Kissinger.

To this observer, instead of charging Henry Kissinger with investigating the criminal murder of thousands on September 11th 2001, it is clear he himself should be charged with engineering crimes of even greater magnitude. And we should be investigating his role in another September 11th; one in 1973 in which he helped engineer the overthrow of a democratically elected Chilean President Allende to install a brutal General Pinochet who ordered the murder of over 3000 Chileans.

Stephen Push of Great Falls, Virgina, a leader of Families of September 11th, argued that the commission as passed was not as powerful as family members wanted.

At the White House today was Co-chair of Voices of September 11th, Mary Fetchet, who expressed some dismay over the appointment of Kissinger saying "it was not one of the names that had been discussed." Well, if they had mentioned Kissinger surely some of the victim family members involved in the negotiations would have done their own homework and raised objections and then would have subsequently driven a harder bargain and not yielded to 'soft' commission rules.

So while the commission structure is softball (making a partisan cover-up and avoidance of accountability easier procedurally), the Administration's appointment of Kissinger is an act of brazen arrogance and indication that indeed as some have said, they are set to play hardball. They are sending up their heavy hitter, in the very worst sense of the word...

According to Kissinger, a meeting with representatives of the victims' families and other commissioners is set for December 12. And a secret report from the Joint House/Senate Select Committee's Inquiry on Intelligence issues is due to be completed by the end of the year. In the meantime, a citizens' truth commission supported by UQ is being organized by a growing ad-hoc alliance to bring attention to the most important lines of inquiry and unanswered questions. With the appointment of Kissinger, this alternative avenue of investigation is all the more vital, and if we play hard, play clever and persist we will break through the media whiteout on the issues raised on UQ and hundreds of other sites similarly dedicated. The time is now to rally aggressively and effectively, before body bags of fallen soldiers arrive home with the massacre of more innocents in their wake.

A full 9/11 investigation that tells the whole story may prove to be the 'Achilles heel' of this Administration and its Constitutionally stripping, fear mongering, war fighting agenda...

So please, if you are able:

1. Organize a protest against Kissinger...expose him as a war criminal, demand answers to all the questions...put all lines of inquiry on the table.

2. Order the 'discounted' UQ conference video ($12 donation) and get it aired on your local cable access channel. Order two and send one to one of the commissioners.

Was it "the Pearl Harbor of the 21st century" or the American Reichstag Fire? Though we still don't know what really happened, the massacre of Sept. 11, 2001 became casus belli for an endless global war. At home, the Bush regime, illegitimate and unelected, seized on the attacks as the enabling event for a new system of total power and total surveillance. Yet for fourteen months, the regime has constantly blocked public investigation into 9/11 and its background. Why?

We may not know what happened, but we do know that the official story is a farce. Seekers of the "9/11 Truth" have established at least that much in their volumes of research. The kindest explanation for the oddities and impossible coincidences of Sept. 11 is that the regime is criminally negligent, an active danger to its own citizens - how dare they plead incompetence for 9/11 and then embark on an insanely aggressive war policy against countries that had nothing to do with it? It almost seems designed to provoke half the world into attacking America. By far the likelier explanation is that elements within the government knowingly allowed the Qaeda attacks to happen on purpose, so that the regime could save itself from the laughter of the American majority, shred the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights, and implement longstanding plans for "homeland security" and world domination. This is not just about getting a pipeline through Afghanistan, this is about the whole planetary pie: mobilizing the U.S. population to fight an endless crusade, in a time of imminent economic meltdown.

Not a week passes without dire warnings that new attacks are coming soon. Cheney and his ilk, the same people who have blocked a real investigation into 9/11, have repeatedly guaranteed that even more horrible terror hits could come anywhere, at any time, in any form, in America, Europe or Asia. With the whole planet at stake, can we afford anything less than full disclosure of the 9/11 Truth? From the lengths that the regime has so far taken to enshroud everything about that day in secrecy, we can certainly tell that they cannot afford to have the truth see the light of day.

Be patriotic; remember the victims of that day and honor them by demanding the truth! 9/11 Truth is the key to the doors of perception for the majority of the American public. Its disclosure can stop the war, reverse the police state, bring down the regime, and set us sailing for a different world.
