A new web based imaging system for tracking Australian bush fires has recently been and the following pictures were obtained from it. The tool allows you to zoom in on a particular fire and area. The first three images below show the fire hotspots overlaid on top of MODIS satellite imagery (sourced from the same place as the above image). To make the pictures more useful we have moved to an overlay based on Landsat imagery and then maps for the subsequent images.

To use the tool to create your own view of the fire see…. http://www.sentinel.csiro.au/. Warning: At present due to the emergency the website is working fairly slowly.
