Are you waking up with the morning dreads?
Every day, I get up, wake up the G4 and click Google News,
gloomily, for rumours of war. It depresses me but I can't
help it. Helping a close friend through a ghastly personal
situation hasn't improved my disposition either. And then
this morning there was the 6.55am flyover, the dank, pooky
smell of Foray 48B and the sharp, brief, inevitable headache
on stepping out the door...

round ours, with all the leftovers from Michel's coming our
way. Girlie, surely, has one sweet tooth. Strawberry
cheesecake for breakfast. Even before the windfalls she had
me, after nagging weeks, beating up a tiramisu. Not that I'd
ever made it before, understand. Girlie will not be

was forcibly ejected from a mall in upstate New York for the
unspeakable crime of wearing a T-shirt with a peace slogan
on it. When mall security asked him to take it off or

I moved house eight months ago but mail still
appears mysteriously to the old address. My ex-neighbour
called to tell me another stack had gathered so I drove
round on Sunday to collect it. The booty of junk mail
included a small, damp cheque and a month-old bankruptcy
notice from Mr Heath Cleland, Collections Manager (their
capitalisation) for Dun & Bradstreet (New Zealand) Ltd, the
strong (but local) arm of the Accident Compensation
Corporation. Bankrupting ...
