A little something to read over the weekend

There was a huge thunderclap overhead last night. It woke me up, truly startled, then truly grateful that it was the work of Mother Nature and not something exploding.

Speaking of exploding, yesterday at Cannon House, Washington DC, the Lexington Institute hosted a policy luncheon where it presented its paper, 'Directed Energy Weapons: Technologies, Applications and Implications.' The weapons described in their paper are the ones that are being tested in Iraq. The paper is on-line as a pdf file (large) at http://www.lexingtoninstitute.org/defense/DirectEngery.pdf

By promoting America's ability to project power around the globe we not only defend the homeland of democracy, but also sustain the international stability in which other free-market democracies can thrive."
