Re: Pinocchio And Pacific Patsy’s Double Act at the UN
It’s mightier than the sword – besides, you get a nice tattoo into the bargain! Why? After seeing my piece in SCOOP on 16/04/04, the Cuban Ambassador to New Zealand, Miguel Ramirez, kindly pointed out to me that contrary to the Agence France Presse (AFP) item widely published on the internet on Tuesday April 6th, and on which I based my criticisms of New Zealand, MFAT had confirmed to him that they were not co-sponsoring, or involved in any way with, the Draft Resolution sponsored by Honduras.
The AFP item in question quoted US State Department Assistant Secretary Kim Holmes saying in Washington: “US officials named Nicaragua, El Salvador, New Zealand, Australia and the Czech republic as among those backing the resolution.” I did in fact seek clarification from MFAT on this when writing my article, but unfortunately they did not reply.
This experience underscores at least two things - the dangers of relying on information in the ‘international press’, and the fact that the US State Department is STILL lying, and misrepresenting other country’s positions to garner support for their own purposes.
The rest of the information in the article is verifiable and reliable. Re my comments about NZ and MFAT, you will have to excuse me now – I have to get a steaming great humble pie out of the oven, and while it cools enough to eat, I must do my penance…MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay MFAT rules okay…
