Stateside with Rosalea: The Others

Stateside with Rosalea

The Others

This Thursday, I'll miss the presidential debate - which airs at 6 pm here on the West Coast - because I'll be at a discussion given by a panel of young voters about what it takes to get young people interested in going out to vote.

But earlier in the day on Thursday - 2 pm Pacific - I can watch the debate between the Libertarian Michael Badnarik and the Greens' David Cobb. It will be taking place in the hotel across the street from the Bush-Kerry event and will be carried as streaming video at http:www.freemarketnews.com as well as broadcast on stations that are part of the Pacifica Radio Network.

And on Wednesday night at 9 pm in most media markets, PBS will be airing its documentary about third parties, Crashing the Parties 2004. This special gives voters a behind-the-scenes look at third party campaigns and conventions in the 2004 presidential race, showcasing the serious political alternatives to the Democrats and Republicans.

The one-hour program focuses on four major third party/independent bids: Libertarian Party (Michael Badnarik), Green Party (David Cobb), Constitution Party (Michael Peroutka) and Ralph Nader. In addition, other candidates' bids for their party's nomination are featured.
