Poem: Palestine On Christmas Day In Mourning
Palestine on Christmas Day in Mourning
By Genevieve Cora Fraser
Splinters
from the manger
Woods of cedar, cypress
And pine
intermingle
In the dust of time
In Bethlehem
On
Christmas Day
Where He
Once lay
Crying out
For
mother
Love a babe
So tiny so frail
On Christmas
Day
Before mourning
Nursing, nestled
In her soft
arms
In Palestine
On Christmas Day
A rugged
carpenter
Who spoke of Love
Spoke of Peace
In
Palestine
In mourning
He was crucified
Strung out
On a cross
Faced long
Held hate
On Christmas
Day
He was born
Cedar, cypress
And pine
Sweet
woods
Cut to carry
The Savior's
Pain
In
Palestine
In mourning
In horror
In torture
He
stumbled
But Loved
In Palestine
Despite
mourning
His loving heart
Bears the
wretched
Rejected
In pain
They came
All loved
the same
Heirs to His Kingdom
In Bethlehem
There
were Three Kings
On Christmas Day
In mourning
There
were three
Splinters
From God's great love
A tree
of salvation
A tree of hope
A tree of
joy
Christian-Muslim-Jew
Atheists too
Waiting
In
mourning
On every day
To be born anew
In His
Great
Love
In Palestine
In Israel
Throughout the
world
To be born again
In His great Love
In faith
that passes
All
understanding
