Business people who believed by voting Green they were showing support for the environment should all now be very angry, said ACT Commerce spokesman Stephen Franks.
Today the Greens urged the MMP select committee to keep MMP, to protect the “fresh perspectives” given by “diversity in Parliament”. But in Melbourne they have been trying to suppress the expression of views they disagree with.
“Many who respect freedom of speech and ideas wanted to see the Green viewpoint represented in Parliament. People who believe in the rule of law thought the Greens should have an opportunity to contribute to the making of laws.
“I know a number of friends in commerce who voted Green for some, or all, of those reasons.
“But when Green MPs go to Australia to break the law and block free speech they show their true totalitarian colour is black, barely camouflaged green.
“Their response to diversity in the human environment is the equivalent of DDT or 245T.
“They enabled the suppression of choice in accident cover with the return to the ACC monopoly. They want to suppress discussions and ideas they don’t like. They scorn the things that give societies diversity (freedom of speech and association, and protection against bullies’ threats to person and property). Like the Wild Greens they don’t care how much damage they do to the rights of others on the way.
“They damage the rule of law the way reckless spray drift mutates life in a neighbouring creek. Their extremism pollutes our democracy,” concluded Stephen Franks.
