Immigration Minister Digs Deeper Hole

The Immigration Minister must front up and explain why she has failed to properly follow up her serious allegations against Immigration officials, National State Services spokesperson Roger Sowry said today.

“The Minister has admitted in Parliament today she has not sought an investigation from the State Services Commission into her claims that officials had not told her the truth.

“The Minister is digging a deeper hole for herself with her management of this issue.

“Lianne Dalziel went berserk last week against officials.

“And yet it has taken her nearly a week to even get any action. She now tells us she expects to get advice on the matter by 5pm today.

“This smacks of her only taking action today because she was facing pressure during Parliamentary question time.

“The Minister has made unprecedented public accusations against officials and has done nothing to investigate what has happened.

“She has just left the accusations hanging.

“Why has she failed to get the State Services Commission to investigate this matter?

“State Services Minister Trevor Mallard also said last week he would investigate it. – but what has he done?

“Questions have to be asked why the Immigration Minister has failed to seek a proper investigation of this matter. What is she worried the investigation will find?” Mr Sowry said.

“National’s Immigration spokesperson Marie Hasler has written to the State Services Commissioner seeking a full investigation into this matter.”
