Govt Apartment Renovations Good Value – Bunkle
Alliance Minister Phillida Bunkle says replacement curtains in her Crown owned apartment are good value for money. "Criticism from National Deputy Leader, Wyatt Creech, about the renovations shows why the apartment was so run down," said Phillida Bunkle.
"When I moved into the apartment the curtains, made of synthetic fabric, were falling to pieces due to UV light damage and Ministerial Services agreed they needed replacing. I suggested a hemp fabric because hemp is the most UV resistant fibre available. Hemp costs more immediately but because it is so durable it will pay off in the long run. Of course hemp products will cost less once we have an established domestic hemp industry."
"The apartment was yet another Crown asset inherited by the Coalition Government that had been run down by the previous National Government. Instead of leaving the apartment to deteriorate we have made some basic improvements to add value to the asset. I am confident that this represents value for the taxpayer," said Phillida Bunkle.
