More Bureaucrats But Where's The Benefit?
More Bureaucrats But Where's The Benefit?
Tuesday 6 Nov 2001 Rodney Hide Press Releases -- Governance & Constitution
The Labour-Alliance Government needs to explain why more taxpayer dollars are being spent on bureaucrats' wages, ACT Finance Spokesman Rodney Hide said today.
"The State Services Commissioner's annual report shows the public sector is growing and growing.
"Bureaucracy is indeed blooming under this Government. But what New Zealanders want to know is, where's the benefit? With so much tax going straight back into the public sector, we expect a decent education system, an adequate health system, and protection when we walk on the streets.
"We need a smaller, more efficient Government that actually delivers what we need, rather than the huge amount of bureaucracy and soft rot that Mr Wintringham's report exposes," Mr Hide said.
