GE Stand Will Be Put To Party Conference On Saturday

The membership of the Green Party will be asked to endorse the position of the Green caucus in refusing to support a Government that lifted the moratorium on the release of genetically engineered organisms into the environment.

The seven MPs will put an emergency remit to the party's AGM this weekend which reads:

'The Green Party will require a policy agreement to extend the moratorium on the release of GE organisms as a condition for entering any coalition; and will vote against confidence and supply for any government that allows the moratorium to expire.'

This remit is likely to come up on Saturday afternoon.

Ends
