Govt must act to ensure strike doesn't go ahead
The strike by the nurses of Auckland's three district health boards shows that the Government is prepared to place Aucklanders' health services at risk, National Health Spokesperson Roger Sowry said today.
"Annette King sat on the sidelines during the Christchurch nurses dispute in December. This cannot be allowed to happen again in Auckland.
"This will be a repeat of the prolonged teachers dispute. We need far more action from the Government on the teachers' strikes and we need more action on pay and conditions to nurses.
"Labour has a cheek campaigning for votes when health and education services are being disrupted because it can't deal with industrial relations issues," Mr Sowry said.
