United Future Calls For Empowerment Of Parents In Education

United Future Leader, Hon Peter Dunne, today announced that if United Future succeeded in winning 3 or 4 seats in the new Parliament it would push for a greater say by parents in their child's education. United Future requires just 3% of party votes to get 4 MPs into Parliament.

"United Future is the only political party dedicated to putting families first. Children need to have a good start in life. Education is the most important investment the government can make. United Future is the party championing education as a priority for resources," said Mr Dunne.

"The government's desire to centralise control of education has diminished choice for parents. United Future supports the principle of decision-making at the level those decisions impact. This means that parents must be involved in determining spending priorities by schools," said Mr Dunne.

"United Future is committed to State funding of education in order to ensure that all children have access to good quality, affordable education. However, we want parents to be at the heart of deciding how and where their children will be educated," said Mr Dunne.

"Only a party vote for United Future NZ will help deliver that" said Mr Dunne.
