Maharey – Greens anti-jobs

Social Services and Employment Minister Steve Maharey today attacked the Green Party for their failure to address the issue of sustainable job creation.

“In the past 24 hours the Green Party has been complicit in actions which are tantamount to economic sabotage.

“Yesterday the Green’s risked undermining the confidence of the productive sector, today they claim to have an interest in jobs. Today Sue Bradford has decided to “share with people” the ideas the Green party has about solutions to things like poverty and unemployment.

“I have a very clear message for the Greens – the best way to alleviate poverty is by way of sustainable employment; and the Labour-led Government has presided over a period of sustained job growth with 104,000 new jobs created over the past two years.

“The best way to create jobs is through economic growth.

“What we see in the Green’s community economic development policy is a parody of the romantic idealism 1960s – there is no appreciation that real jobs come through industries and enterprises that are at the cutting edge and applying higher levels of technology and skill,” Steve Maharey said.
