Launching The First New i-SITE

The Minister of Tourism, Mark Burton, unveiled the first i-SITE, the new visitor information logo, at the Taupo Visitor Information Centre today.

Visitors can use i-SITES to find reliable information about the place they are visiting. The new branding incorporates the internationally recognised letter “i” for information and the stylised silver fern used by Tourism New Zealand in its international marketing.

“In our information-saturated world, clarity has become increasingly important,” Mark Burton said. “Clarity here will be achieved by use of “i”, for information symbol, and the silver fern to draw visitors to the help and information they need.

“With the launch of the i -SITE branding tourists will have an instantly recognisable symbol to access visitor information.

“The re-branding of our information sites is the first since 1991 and has come about after extensive research and much discussion,” the Minister said. “ i-SITE is a useful and timely brand which is capable of leading New Zealand tourism into the future.”
