Leaky Homes Inquiry Submissions Via Internet
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 21/09/02
New Zealanders
can use the internet to make a submission to the
Parliamentary Select Committee inquiring into leaky homes.
National Party spokesman on housing Dr Wayne Mapp has set
up a website
http://www.leakyhomes.co.nz which includes an electronic
submission form.
"The leaky homes crisis needs urgent action," says Dr Mapp. "That's why National has developed this special website. We know homeowners want real action.
"The Labour Government dismissed calls for a full inquiry. Instead the Minister of Internal Affairs asked the Government Administration Select Committee,to conduct an inquiry. Its terms of reference do not include liability and health issues. National is determined that the select committee deal with these issues. Unless there is a comprehensive review without government interference there will still need to be a full public and independent inquiry.
"We encourage the many people affected by leaky buildings to make a submission to the select committee. Making a submission will ensure that the select committee hears how you have been personally affected by this issue," sais Dr Mapp.
The closing dates for submissions is 21 October 2002.
