Govt must release reports on leaky homes
The Government must release the Crown Law Office report on the leaky homes crisis says National Leader Bill English.
The Government is stonewalling anyone who asks for copies of the Crown Law report.
"Homeowners face heartbreak and they deserve to have all the information infront of them. They are quite capable of understanding the issue and Helen Clark's blanket denial of any public liability isn't good enough. If that is what the report says then she should let everyone see it.
"Today's Cabinet must support an urgent resolution to this problem instead of continuing to send homeowners to their lawyers.
"Helen Clark must also answer when the Building Industry Authority first reported these problems to George Hawkins, how many reports the Minister has had from the BIA, and why these reports are not being made public.
"The Government has known about this problem for some time. It is time it acted to protect the interests of homeowners rather than focusing on the Government's liability.
"There is no justification for the Government to withhold the Crown Law report and other reports on this disaster to the Minister," Bill English said.
