Dunne: Dr Armstrong must go
United Future New Zealand leader, Peter Dunne, today reiterated his call at the weekend for Dr Ross Armstrong to resign, or be dismissed from, his Government-appointed posts at the head of Television New Zealand and Industrial Research Ltd, a Crown Research Institute.
"Dr Armstrong's actions last week, in which he gave the impression that some business leaders could get some kind of favoured treatment from the Government in awarding Government contracts, have cast grave doubts over his judgement and his fitness to head two of the Government's largest businesses.
"I am further disturbed to see that Dr Armstrong continues to defend his actions and seeks to brush them aside as minor misunderstandings," said Mr Dunne.
"This inability to recognise that his actions have the potential to blur and muddy New Zealand's highly valuable reputation as a country free from political and business corruption is why Dr Armstrong must go," he concluded.
