Peters Pursues Parliamentary Parley
New Zealand First welcomes the invitation to debate the Government’s immigration policy in the House this week.
“My Caucus looks forward to debating the issues and to providing New Zealanders with an opportunity to really examine what is happening to our country,” said New Zealand First Leader Winston Peters.
Mr. Peters was responding to a publicity stunt by the increasingly irrelevant leader of the ACT Liberace Party who has issued a notice of motion to the press in an attempt to gain attention for his Party’s new name and its new leader.
“Once Mr. Prebble amends his meaningless drivel and refers to Mr. Peters (not Mr. Peter) and replaces ‘disassociate’ with the only generally regarded acceptable term ‘dissociate’ we are prepared to take up his challenge, if there is an undertaking that the debate will be conducted fairly, with equal opportunity for speakers on both sides of the debate. That is, for each speaker they put up we are allocated a speaking slot. This is a matter that is fundamental to the future shape of our country and needs to be taken seriously,” Mr. Peters said.
