What do the Progressives want?

What do the Progressives want?

Jobs.

Jim Anderton, Progressive leader, in his contribution to the debate on the Opening of Parliament said that employment is the major objective of the Progressive party.

“We have set full employment as our ultimate social and economic goal. We want more high paying, rewarding jobs. We agree with groups who say there are still too many unemployed and we want to continue working to address this, significant social and economic issue.

“The Progressives want a Government that has full employment as its constant underlying objective – informing every policy and investment decision that it makes.

“We want every young person to either be in a job, training or education.

“The more jobs New Zealand has the more wealth we have to pay for health care, education and policing our streets.

“Supporting Labour but standing outside a coalition is an option for a centrist party but not for a progressive party when there is a strong Labour party in Parliament.

“Progressives are serious about getting things done and this Labour Progressive Coalition Government is achieving constructive and sustainable advances for all New Zealanders while transforming the New Zealand economy into ideas based, world class creative society.
