Labour Must Face Facts - Transport Plan Is A Dog
The National Party says it's time for Labour to go back to the drawing board with its solution to the country's transport woes.
"The verdict's now in and there's no two ways about it - the Land Transport Amendment Bill is a dog," says National Party Transport spokesman Roger Sowry.
"When the mayor of New Zealand's largest city, John Banks, goes on the record to say the Land Transport Amendment Bill will not work - the Government should be listening.
"I've met with representatives from the Auckland Mayoral Forum and the Regional Council to discuss concerns over the Bill and the fact it will do very little to solve Auckland's gridlock in its current form," Mr Sowry says.
"The National Party is committed to working with interest groups and local bodies to change the Bill, which is now drawing criticism from up and down New Zealand," he says.
