Labour Increases Services to Rakaia Constituents

Rakaia’s Buddy MP, Tim Barnett, and Labour Spokesperson for Rakaia, Tony Milne, are inviting Ashburton residents to meet with them about issues in their area when they launch a monthly “Constituent Clinic” in Ashburton on Saturday.

Tim Barnett and Tony Milne will be holding an information and advice clinic at the Ashburton Resource Centre from 10.00am to 12.00pm on Saturday 8 March.

Tim Barnett was impressed by the level of interest when he last ran a four-hour information and advice clinic in Ashburton in 2002.

“During the clinic, I received a fresh and very well informed perspective on a whole range of issues which are the subject of lively debate in government and Parliament”, Tim Barnett said.

“Since as many people voted Labour in the Rakaia electorate as National, Labour wants to represent the needs of the electorate and provide a choice of representation” Tim Barnett said.

“As the only major political party in New Zealand, we owe it to the people of Ashburton to keep the information flowing and provide a forum for residents to argue their case. Their voice must not be lost”, Tony Milne said. “Labour will be running monthly information and advice clinics throughout the Rakaia Electorate to ensure constituents can have their say”, Tony Milne said.

“Labour remains committed to getting feedback, particularly from provincial centres such as Ashburton, so that every area of New Zealand can continue to benefit from the government’s efforts and achievements”, Tim Barnett said.
