Airport security needs review
The Government needs to issue an assurance that our airports are as safe as they can be, according to National Party MP Tony Ryall.
"The airports' satisfaction survey, done by police each year, shows the very people who run our airports don't think the police are adequately resourced to cope with a terrorist threat.
"Airport managers are worried identity checks aren't being carried out and security scares aren't being investigated properly," says Mr Ryall.
"New Zealanders have every right to be concerned for their safety and the results of this survey, which the law and order select committee had to request, hint at a different story being told.
"The Police Minister's putting his head in the sand on this survey, like he ignored the leaky homes crisis.
"The travelling public has every right to ask questions and deserve proper answers," Mr Ryall says.
