Asian community support for Carolina Anderson

Asian community rallies to support Carolina Anderson

National MP Pansy Wong is welcoming a financial offer from Asian businessmen in Auckland towards the family of dog-attack victim Carolina Anderson.

Ms Wong recently met with Carolina Anderson's father and was moved by his account of the long and torturous road facing Carolina in the next ten years of numerous operations. Her account of the meeting on her weekly Chinese radio broadcast has moved three Asian businessmen to come forward and raise money for Carolina's trust fund.

Messrs Xie, Leung and Lee have launched a bi-weekly English language IT newspaper, focused on New Zealand. They have pledged the net proceeds of one issue of the newspaper for Carolina's trust fund, with a minimum of $7,000 guaranteed.

"A recent report from the Race Relations Commissioner said that the Asian and Pakeha communities are the most discriminated against in New Zealand. It is good to see these two communities working together for a common cause," said Mrs Wong.

John Anderson will be present at a Chinese media conference tomorrow to thank these kind donors and the Asian communities who have contributed. He will also appeal to the Asian communities to support his call for tougher dog control laws.
