Alexander: UF helps Boy Racer Bill to the start line
United Future was delighted that its contribution to what has become known as the "Boy Racer Bill" would not only help it become better law, but bring it about quicker.
The Land Transport (Street and Illegal Drag Racing) Bill, a member's bill brought to the House by Labour's Clayton Cosgrove, is being fast-tracked, with the full backing of United Future
"And we've also done a considerable amount to support this very good piece of legislation," United Future's law and order spokesman Marc Alexander said.
"United Future has strengthened it in the area of impounding of offenders vehicles, but also in allowing police the flexibility to adjudge a situation too dangerous, simply take note of a vehicle's details at the time of an offence, and impound it later.
"It is all about reclaiming the streets of this nation's towns and cities for law-abiding citizens," he said.
"This is good law in the making, and an example of the positive contribution United Future is making to this country: If it is good, common sense, we will back it all the way, and improve it where we can."
