Nandor challenges Dunne

Green MP Nandor Tanczos challenged United Future leader Peter Dunne today in Parliament to publicly debate cannabis law reform.

Nandor, the Green spokesperson for Drug Law Reform, said he was willing to engage Mr Dunne in his own electorate of Ohariu-Belmont.

"Let's not get drawn into a personal slanging match," said Nandor. "Let's debate the facts, calmly and rationally, and let the public of New Zealand decide.

"Peter Dunne has put personality before principles on a number of occasions by personally attacking me. There's a simple reason for that: he's got no evidence to back up his rhetoric.

"Mr Dunne has been going around his electorate scare-mongering and distributing lies about the Greens. I challenge him to put the issue out into the open and debate the facts.

"Enough of the dirty tactics and baseless innuendo, its time New Zealand had a sensible and honest debate. A man who so obviously prides himself on commonsense surely would agree to that.

"It is time for Peter Dunne to show some leadership and behave like an adult by debating the issue in public on its merits," said Nandor.
