Ardern charged with disorderly behaviour
National Party Deputy Leader Roger Sowry says the Party is surprised that a decision has been made to prosecute Taranaki - King Country MP Shane Ardern for disorderly behaviour.
Mr Ardern was given the news this morning after being interviewed by police yesterday over his actions during the public farmers' protest on the steps of Parliament last Thursday.
"The Party is surprised and disappointed with the decision given that we now know there have been similar episodes and no charges were ever laid," says Mr Sowry.
Mr Ardern is unable to make any further comment on the police decision as the matter is now before the courts.
