Signs Of Apartheid Appear In Gisborne

“New Zealand is a nation of many cultures and could well do without the evils of racism,” said New Zealand First Maori Affairs spokesperson Bill Gudgeon.

“The report today of a Gisborne hotelier pulling the plug on a project because his business partner hired ‘Maori’ staff is quite shocking in this day and age,” said Mr Gudgeon.

“This is New Zealand in 2003 where we should have people endeavouring to keep this nation together. We cannot tolerate racial attitudes like this.

“I applaud the business partner for upholding principles of equality and for generating, harmony among the people of Gisborne, without the prejudices that her business partner apparently lives by,”
