Chairman change in Tax Rewrite Advisory Panel
Revenue Minister Michael Cullen today paid tribute to the work of Colin Blair, chairman of the advisory panel that oversees the Rewrite of the Income Tax Act, who is to step down after eight years in the position.
“Colin has made an outstanding contribution to the panel and the progressive rewrite of the Income Tax Act into plain English, which began in the early 1990s,” Dr Cullen said.
“His extensive background in taxation and accounting, coupled with his ability to maintain a steady overview of the highly detailed, very specialist work of the team that is rewriting the Income Tax Act, have made him an ideal chairman of the advisory panel.
“The new chairman of the panel is to be the Rt Hon Sir Ivor Richardson, who retired as President of the Court of Appeal last year and has been a leading authority on taxation law for many years,’’ Dr Cullen said.
Mr Blair will leave the position in
November.
